Something‘s amiss
Sep 8, 2023
A poem about feeling anxious.
Dread.
That feeling of inextricable queasiness.
Why are you here?
Leave me alone.
I’m not getting out of bed.
These are my covers.
Go bother the cat.
Pause.
I’ll have some coffee.
Maybe you’ll go away?
I’m not listening.
My tummy feels funny.
I’ll scroll through some social media.
Get out of my head.
Focus.
I drink another cup of coffee.
What did I forget?
Monday drains my soul.
It’s on the tip of my tongue.
A film on top of the pearly whites.
I need to brush my teeth.
